CAMPO (FIELD) offers children from 4 to 7 years of age the possibility to be part of a stirring collective artistic endeavour. Accompanied by a parent or guardian, kids are invited to join artist Ieltxu Ortueta and musician Gil Fuser in a grand creative “happening”. Together, everyone – children, artists and the “big kids” accompanying the little ones – will explore, invent, create and discover. CAMPO is a field where various approaches and disciplines intersect: visual arts, performance art, installation art, graphic design and physical theatre.
Here, everything is a game and we are all artists!
We will explore ways of relating to materials (stones, twigs, paper), to the space and to each other in an open-ended game of rousing experimentation that draws on principles from the visual arts, graphic design and performance art while simultaneously promoting observation skills, imagination, motor skills and play.
Born in Bilbao (Spain), Ieltxu Ortueta has lived in Brazil since 2003. He is an actor, performance artist, art historian and graphic designer. In 2012, he founded ARTEFACTOS BASCOS, a collective which stages multidisciplinary graphic and scenic projects. ARTEFACTOS BASCOS has received several awards, most recently the SELECT Art and Education Award (performing arts laboratory for children from rural areas) and PROAC Artes Integradas from the São Paulo Ministry of Culture. Ieltxu Ortueta develops both his own and co-produced theatre projects. In 2009, he received the prize Interações Estéticas da FUNARTE for his project “ESTRANJIS”. Ieltxu Ortueta currently works as a cultural educator and mentor in the field of performance and improvisation.
